Editorial Reviews:

The New York Times bestselling author of Darkfever and Bloodfever returns to Dublin’s Fae-infested shores in a bold, sensual new novel. Hurtling us into a realm of seduction and shadows, Karen Marie Moning tells the enthralling tale of a woman who explores the limits of her mysterious powers as she enters a world of ancient sorcery—and confronts an enemy more insidious than she could ever have imagined.

He calls me his Queen of the Night. I’d die for him. I’d kill for him, too. When MacKayla Lane receives a torn page from her dead sister’s journal, she is stunned by Alina’s desperate words. And now MacKayla knows that her sister’s killer is close. But evil is closer. And suddenly the sidhe-seer is on the hunt: For answers. For revenge. And for an ancient book of dark magic so evil, it corrupts anyone who touches it.

Mac’s quest for the Sinsar Dubh takes her into the mean, shape-shifting streets of Dublin, with a suspicious cop on her tail. Forced into a dangerous triangle of alliance with V’lane, an insatiable Fae prince of lethally erotic tastes, and Jericho Barrons, a man of primal desires and untold secrets, Mac is soon locked in a battle for her body, mind, and soul.

As All Hallows’ Eve approaches and the city descends into chaos, as a shocking truth about the Dark Book is uncovered, not even Mac can prevent a deadly race of immortals from shattering the walls between worlds—with devastating consequences.…

Summary: A Bit Disappointed
Comment: I loved both Darkfever and Bloodfever however I'm a bit disenchanted with the direction Faefever has taken the story. I also am not sure this is a storey needing five books in order to tell it due to the lack of information revealed in this book. Don't get me wrong, I love everything Ms, Moning has written-I've read them all-I'm just unsure of the road I'm being led down as a reader concerning this particular series.

Summary: disappointed...
Comment: I was soooo disappointed in this book. I waited a year to read it, and I wished I hadn't bothered. She could have added a chapter in the next book to make up for this one. It really didn't add enough new information to make a complete book. This was the worst of her series. I hope the next one is better, or I won't continue.

Summary: See Both Sides
Comment: I see both sides of the issues regarding this book. I enjoyed it and would recommend it because I enjoy the series but also agree that it's transitional and not a lot of substance happens until the end (could easily have been split between books 2 and 4). I agree that a book should be able to stand alone (since you pay for it as a stand alone) as well as advancing the series storyline. I don't think this book succeeded there. I also hated the ending but agree it's the writer's perogative - but she could have been sensitive to leaving the readers here for another year. Lastly, I too am disappointed in the lack of substantive romance and the few pages with JBB. Lastly, it's all well and good for KMM to say it's not a romance but it's tagged as romance and sold in the romance sections of the bookstores as well as online!! And it ties in to the Highlander romance series. IMHO you can't have it both ways! If she didn't want this to be paranormal romance she could written it without Highlander tie ins under another name to avoid confusing the existing loyal fans.
