Summary: A whole lot of information, and not a lot of meat
Comment: I have loved this author since my first encounter with Ms. Moning's Highlander books, and I truly enjoy the way she writes and thinks. Therefore, I DID enjoy this story, but I'm concered that it is headed in the direction of becoming a soap-opera in printed form. NOTHING HAPPENED in the 300+ pages of this book to make the reader feel like Mac has moved onto the next stage of whatever it is she is to become or do. She was confused at the outset of the story, and is just as confused (and now, a little more jaded) at the end. Like a soap opera, the content of this book could be set within the timeframe of a week (on Earth, not in Fae...), and the information within could have easily been incorporated into the Darkfever and/or upcoming Faefever titles. I feel that this was just the publisher's way of exploiting our interest and confidence in the skill of the author, not to mention the outright exploitation of our wallets. Since I enjoy reading Ms. Moning's work so much (it IS well-written), I gave it 4 stars. If I were to evaluate it on content and reader satisfaction alone, drop that rating by 1-2 stars. To the publisher: I'm not interested in helping to pay for your balloon mortgage or putting your kids through school. I have my own kids and mortgage to deal with. Stop playing these games with consumers, and have a little more respect for your authors' faithful readers.

Summary: Dark Days in Dublin
Comment: MacKayla "Mac" Lane came to Ireland, a Southern girl from a small town and well-to-do background, to find out the circumstances of her sister's murder. She discovers a world of dark Fae and evil lords and vampires and that she is a Sidhe-seer, one of the few who can see the Fae and therefore fight them. For centuries the Fae have not be active and mankind has forgotten them and the Sidhe-seers, but now the Fae are coming back. In this continuation of the tale in the first book, DARKFEVER, Mac is under the questionable protection of bookstore-owner Jericho Barrons, and they search for the book of powerful dark magic that both her sister and Mac can magically sense. They still need to contend with the Dark Master, her sister's killer, who is bringing dark Fae into the human world. V'Lane, the death-by-sex-fae, is still hunting both Mac and the book. And of course things only get worse from there.
As someone who jumped in without reading the first book, I can say that the author made it easy to catch up with the events. It also helps that while a lot of things happen quickly and constantly--there is a lot of action and developments--the big on-going relationships, plot elements and mysteries aren't revealed much within each book. If you're looking for answers to everything posed in the first book (or even any romance beyond lots of sexual tension), forget about it. But so far, the ride is an exciting one and I'm hooked enough to want to continue on to the next book to see what else is in store.

Summary: Love the Mac's evolution as a character
Comment: It doesn't happen that often that I find a series that I have to read one book after the other non-stop but after reading Dark Fever I had to read the other 2 books immediately.
I've read KMM's Highlander series and enjoyed them but the Fever series captivated me like nothing else she's written.
Can't wait for the next installment!!

Summary: "Before, I had a weapon. Now I am the weapon."
Comment: Left hanging by the ending of Darkfever, I quickly made myself a cup of tea and plopped down on the sofa to start reading the second novel. Oh, what a rush!
BLOODFEVER quickly summarizes the events in DARKFEVER before continuing on with MacKayla Lane's investigation of her sister's savage murder and hunt for the Sinsar Dubh, a book said to hold the deadliest of all magic. The first chapter starts off with the local homicide investigator paying our heroine a visit. MacKayla realizes that the inspector has clued in on the Dark Zone, the place where she came face to face with her sister's murderer, the Lord Master. Not too long ago, she would have jumped at the chance to have her sister's case reopened, but her showdown with the Unseelies, which have left her badly injured, now have her fearing for innocent humans. As she struggles to convince the inspector that she is no longer interested in reopening the case, enter the enigmatic Jericho Barrons who deals with the problem. But when the inspector is found murdered the day after, Mackayla becomes the main suspect leaving her wanted not only by the Fae but her own kind too. Yet this is only the beginning.
The plot thickens as new characters are introduced and more complications are added. Why is Death stalking her? Can she trust Dani and the other Sidhe-Seers? What does V'lane, a Prince of the Seelie Court, really want from her? Paramount of all questions is who is Jericho Barrons and why does the Lord Master seem to fear him? So many questions, so few pages.
BLOODFEVER had me captivated from the word go. Karen Marie Moning weaves a world of magic, supernatural terror and gore. The characters are strong and fleshed-out. Everyone including the secondary characters have their special place in the novel adding to the convoluted world that Mac, our heroine with unwavering determination, inadvertently finds herself drawn in. If I liked Mac before, I found myself caring for her now which is a testament to the author's wonderful characterization. Dark, evocative, humorous, the saga continues as Mac gets more deeply involved in the brewing war to end all wars. Mac learns more about her origins and develops her powers adding to the mystery. This Southern Belle is certainly leaving her rainbow world of pastel and pearls for the darker world void of color and saturated with evil. The ending does not really reach a particular conclusion, yet rest assured that you won't feel cheated for it is clear that Moning has a clear grasp on the world she's created and knows exactly where the story is headed. There is more mystery to unravel and more powers to discover.
I enjoyed the first book, but BLOODFEVER has me hooked. Ms Moning, please keep them coming - and fast!

Summary: Okay...yeah....
Comment: MacKayla lane travels to Ireland in order to seek a very important book to the fae, a book that is a million years old of the blackest magic ever. MacKayla is pursued by fae assassins and is forced to work with Jericho Barrons, a man that is as mysterious as he is hot. And that is not where her man trouble ends she's also pursued by V'lane a fae that can turn arousal into obsession. The world of the fae and the human race are growing closer together will MacKayla be able to protect that boundary or will evil get the upper hand?
Hmmm...yeah...okay...listen I have been a KMM fan for a very long time and I totally respect her need for stretching her creative muscle and venture forth. And for those that are new to KMM...this book and even series may entertain. There are elements here that just didn't work for me...personally and that is my issue (such as stories told in 1st person) and I know that those that enjoy this story are going to not take kindly to my opinion. However this story was a tad bit flat, there was a lot of potential here but yeah, flat is the only way to describe this read. Well, that an a wee bit of violence...combined with a sassier than likable heroine. So, if you're a long time fan, don't go looking for any of the magic of her Scottish series...you're not going to find that here. As long as you're willing to have an open mind and you can suspend reality you will be entertained.
