Comment: When I ordered this bowl, I wasn't sure I needed it, but I had a gift certificate and was purchasing the KitchenAid bowl cover. Other comments helped me settle on this accessory for my new stand mixer. Now, I don't know what I would do without it. It's great for the smaller recipes I often make for two. (As noted by another comment, the beaters truly do work better in a smaller bowl for small quantities.) Even more useful, it allows me to beat wet ingredients in the small bowl and blend dry ingredients in the large one, eliminating the need to wash a bowl before combining them in the larger bow. The 3-quart bowl nests perfectly in the 4 1/2 quart bowl for storage.

Comment: This is the best mixing bowl for my mixer, imaginable. It's great for icing and small recipes. I never liked it when I had to use my large bowl for small recipes.
